My little Gravatar (avatar that will display if I reply to something) has changed because I can’t really figure out how to separate it out for multiple identities. Over in the cubicle troll world, I stepped up to write a post once a week for The Collared Sheep. So in order to respond to things over there I had to switch icons. I miss my Tommy Bartlett robot though.

I’m kind of sad and depressed this morning. Don’t want to be at work. Making it worse on myself by gorging on 2 for $1 donuts from Holiday.

Saw a movie last night. “Paul” was ok. I guess I wanted it to be like “Galaxy Quest” level of greatness, and it was more like middle-of-the-road SNL skit movie.

Been a bit lonely. Ok, been a lot lonely. Trying to assess it all and figure out what to do with myself.

I tried hanging out my sister like adults. We went to this cocktail making class together. She was kind of in a standoffish mood. She’s always complaining that people in MN are cold and rude, but I wonder if she invites some of that on herself. I went to a cocktail class at Christmas by myself, and I chatted up all the ladies at the table. It wan’t so bad. This time I just talked to my sister. Felt kind of cut off. I dunno. I juts didn’t have as much fun as I thought I would.

I haven’t been to group things much lately so I haven’t been meeting new people. My last push in all that I did make one new real friend and a few new peripheral acquaintances. I’m hopeful on the friendship front. We have some things in common, and the last time we hung out I broke down some walls to get to the “what makes you tick” cusp of a real friendship. Hoping this one will stick. I’m not all that great at making new friends. And by friends.. in my head I’m talking about the kind of people that know all your bad messy stuff and don’t give a flying fuck. They still stick with you. Those are the kind of friends  I have hard time making. I’m not talking about the, yeah I know so-and-so friendships.  I can do those. I’m just not great at getting real close to people.

The whole mystery flowers at Valentine’s Day. I dunno. I think it’s a sad state of affairs that my instant reaction to it was not that someone was being sweet and interested, but that something bad was about to go down.  I’m not the kind of girl that gets flowers from anyone but immediate family. Whoever it was never came forward. I had theories that didn’t pan out. (You know and I know I was bummed it wasn’t the guy with naturally curly Gaiman-esque rock star hair. He was one of the first people I texted. He teased me that I just sent them to my self. Grrrr. Not funny and also disappointing. ). I have other theories who it might of been, but I let it drop. All I know is that after all was said and done, I was very single and had a vase full of brownish water and decaying plant stalks. Telling me  ”______, you are loved” only ended up bumming me out. V-Day Flower fail.

So… I guess I’m just killing time this morning, trying not to be so sad by wrtting out some of the things that might have made me sad. It’s a combo if the weather, work being bad, me not eating right, and being bored by myself a little too much. I’ll snap out of it. I’m just a little down this morning.

Also, this is not your living room. Talking back to the screen is also not cool.

Thirdly, if Seth Rogan is in it, it’s a fair assumption it’s not appropriate for kids under 10.

All-in-all, not a fun day at the movies.

TRON Legacy – plot was a bit…huh… but it looked super cool and the music was good. Overall like.

Black Swan… Portman will get nominated for everything. She was good. Movie…. I like The Red Shoes better as far as ballerina drama goes.

The King’s Speech … pip pip. God Save the King. I loved young princess Elizabeth and the corgis.

True Grit… girl was excellent. Matt Damon endearing. Jeff Bridges good. Would really like to watch the John Wayne version tho.

Shutter Island = bullshit movie. I cannot believe I let that Netflix sit on my table since September. Finally watched. So disappointed.

Twilight Saga: Eclipse… Thank You Sweet Cheesus I had enough sense NOT to sit through this at a movie theater. So dull. Netflix return.

I had the flu… despite having a flu shot. I still have the cough. It’s miserable. Hence all the movie watching.

Part of it was work. I really blog at work and with them hurling Facebook and Twitter maintenance at me as a real full-time task, I haven’t had the time or energy to blog.

Part of it was me running into some dumb situations that I kind of really wanted to crawl under a rock and hide from. It’s hard to blog about pop culture when all your doing is stewing over some of your own stupidity.

Like… all the weight I lost is back and my cholesterol shot through the roof as a result. That was my own stupid doing. Eating out too much. Eating emotions. It was embarrassing. I haven’t really made moves to correct it either.

Today I had a really frustrating day and it kind of reminded me why I started this blog in the first place. It’s an escape. It’s an outlet. It’s a way to say what’s really going on in my mind, without too many people reading into it (ala. Facebook). I need that outlet. I really need to start blogging again.

You read it. That is the number one thing that will be talked about when I next see my Dad.

“Did you hear Prince William got engaged? Go look for stamps.”

My dad has all the Prince Charles and Diana wedding stamps, plus Fergie and Andrew. It’s a thing. He likes it.

So congrats to William and Kate in general — but also a big fuck-you for making me go hunt for commemorative stamps for the next couple of years. It will never end.  Grr.

Well, guess who is in a super happy relationship? One so sickly sweet he and his girlfriend actually have a picture of themselves sitting in the grass, holding hands with a giant heart made out of apples next to them as both their profiles pictures?

First guy I went on a date with way back when I hurled myself into online dating.

Now, don’t get me wrong. More power to the guy. He and I zero in common. But I’m getting so fucking sick of finding this stuff out! I mean really. It’s a heart made out of apples. A bit gratuitous don’t you think?

It’s not like I have this biological clock ticking that I need to get married and have kids, or any of that. It’s not about that at all. I’m still an all or nothing kind of a chick. I want a 21st century version of Mr. Rochester from Jane Eyre, or I’ll stay single thank you very much.

It’s just that kharma is being such a bitch about not letting truly amazing and good things happen to me! I’ve totally earned some good mojo!! Stuff like this bugs me because I don’t understand why all these people I momentarily cross paths with are all dancing off happy into the sunset.

When I do find stuff like this out.. well… I start Googling. I could keep writing about it, but my celebrity crush Neil and Amanda put it into words a lot better than I could a long time ago.  This is what I’ve been doing for the last two hours. I really need to stop.

You Again centers on Kristen Bell’s character getting picked on in high school by a mean brunette. Fast forward a few years and that mean brunette is now marrying Kristen Bell’s brother. No one in the family realizes the brunette is Bell’s high school tormentor. Bell’s character has been in another city making a name for herself in the corporate world. She hasn’t been around to see this relationship blossom. So when she comes home and sees who this girl is, she has to balance not wanting to hurt her brother with wanting to out her bully.

On top of that you’ve got another generation of girl rivals battling it out. Jamie Lee Curtis (as Kristen Bell’s mom) and Sigourney Weaver (as evil brunette’s Aunt) are former BFFs who fell out of favor with each other in high school. Jaime Lee was queen of the school and Sigourney’s character was always second best. When Jamie Lee goes to prom with Sigourney’s high school crush, it shatters their relationship. Grudge for life.

The whole thing works. It doesn’t sound like it would, but it TOTALLY DOES! YAY! It was a fab movie all around even though the older brother and the mean brunette are well over shadowed by the bigger names. Sigourney Weaver and Jaime Lee Curtis are so goddamn gorgeous! I honestly don’t know how old either one is, but they are beautiful.

Betty White is also in it. You know I enjoyed the hell out of this when Betty White as the grandma is an afterthought for me.

It’s a fun fluffy comedy. What more can I say? It was a perfect girl popcorn movie for a Sunday afternoon.  I liked it!

Brunch at a French place downtown. It was very froofy. The group I was with was a little bit older, a little more educated. Had a good time. Talked to a guy I found to be absolutely ADORABLE even though he was well out of my league. So cute. Le sigh. I tried to Pepe Le Pew that situation, but it didn’t work. Mi amor was like the cat in those cartoons. Ran away uninterested.

Nerd board game night. I gotta say, I like playing the board games.  I wasn’t as crazy about the university student filming us like we were an anthropology project (she said it wasn’t for an anthropolgy class but for journalism.  I don’t know. I think she was studying the nerds like monkeys.) Nor was I happy with the hipster website taking pictures. (Thanks a bunch for the picture of me from behind where I’m slouched over and showing off my love handles. ) All-in-all though, I liked learning some new games. If #1 reader of this blog ever throws a board game /Snuggie party, I know what games to purchase and bring with me. Nothing that last for hours and involves trains. It would be something like Fact or Crap.

I guess I’ve done more than that, but those are the two coming to mind. Quick brain flush update. No super bonds forming or anything with these random strangers, but makes me more comfortable with strangers I guess.
